BREAKING NEWS!! updated April 5,
2010
Registration Forms Now Online Registration for the BGCYP's 2010 program will be held on April 20 from 5-6:30pm and is limited to the first 40 registrants. One parent or guardian MUST attend registration. Forms may be printed; filled out at home, and brought to registration in order to save time (all forms will also be available on registration night). Thanks to a very generous grant from Friends of the NRA, fees for 2010 will be set at $120/shooter which includes 20 rounds of trap, 20 boxes shells, basic eye and ear protection, and all instruction. Any shells used for special events, such as some training exercises, shoot-offs, or games are provided by the program. Payment of $120 must be received in full to hold your youth shooter's spot. Shells will be distributed on April 27 after gun safety class. As part of our commitment to community service, we will once again be selling raffle tickets for the Brandon Lanie
Ethical Sportsmen Society. BLESS has been a tremendous supporter of our program in the past and we're honored to help
them towards providing services for our community. The Gambling Control Board states that ALL UNSOLD TICKETS MUST BE
RETURNED TO THE ORGANIZATION. Please try and sell all your tickets; if not it is imperative that you return all stubs
and unpurchased tickets to Shawn & Tammy Good as soon as possible. For more information please contact Coach Stevens at coach.stevens@me.com or 612-703-6155. Thanks and see you there!
Click on the links below to download forms: Thank you, Friends of the NRA The Buffalo Gun Club Youth Program has just received word that our Wright County Friends of the NRA committee generously awarded us a large grant request! Coaches submitted the grant back in October, 2009, for this year's program. Costs per youth shooter have dropped by $30/shooter and allows coaches the opportunity to provide more materials for shooters throughout the season. A second grant written by coaches was awarded to provided guns specifically sized for youth and women shooters. Thank you so much for your support! Through their fundraising banquets, Friends of the NRA raises funds and distributes them to local clubs and organizations such as ours. Their funding focus is primarily to promote the shooting sports with youth and women shooters. Of the 20 Minnesota chapters, our local Wright County Friends of the NRA has be #1 in the state for the 8 years that it has existed. Please consider supporting their work by attending our local banquet on Monday, August 23rd, 2010 at the Maple Lake VFW in Maple Lake, Minnesota. For more information on the Friends of the NRA and the banquet please contact Dave Zumbusch, chairman, at 763-682-9000. Coaches Update Head Coach Mark Stevens and Assistant Coach Sally Stevens recently completed the necessary requirements to achieve the ATA/NRA Level II Shotgun Coach designation. Requirements to achieve Level II include courses in Coach Principles and Sports First Aid, which included many hours of textbook and online study as well as testing. A pre-requisite of these courses is active participation in shotgun sports and ATA/NRA Level I certification. ATA/NRA Level I is a two day workshop and exam process provided by expert trainers. Ron Mellum has volunteered to join the coaching roster as an Assistant Coach, and Colm Macnab will serve as a Junior Coach for the season. A Junior Coach is under 18, must complete the same training as an adult coach, and be under the guidance of an ATA/NRA registered coach at all times. Both are experienced trapshooters and are enrolled in the ATA/NRA Level I coaching school being held in Buffalo on March 27 & 28, 2010. Welcome!
The Buffalo Gun Club Youth Program The BGC-YP was created three years ago to provide youth shooters an opportunity to learn the sport of trapshooting in a safe, learning environment. The program is headed by Coach Mark Stevens, an ATA/NRA Level II registered coach and co-recipient of the ATA's 2008 Coach of the Year award. Together with BGC President Wally Shelstad and a group of dedicated volunteers, including several ATA/NRA registered coaches, more than 100 youth shooters have attended the program in a three year period.
AIM -- Academics, Integrity and Marksmanship Once again the BGC-YP is proud to partner with AIM, the official Youth program of the Amateur Trapshooting Association. Members of AIM will enjoy the thrill of shooting registered competition on a level playing field either as a team or as an individual. The purpose of AIM is to provide a safe and positive experience with firearms and registered trapshooting for youth, elementary school through college age. AIM encourages good sportsmanship and personal responsibility through competition while establishing the foundation to make trapshooting a lifelong avocation.
